When Did You Realize It Was Over?

Guys and girls tell us about the moment they knew it was time to call it quits.

“I came home crying after a huge fight with my boyfriend. I was on the couch. My dad saw me. He didn't know it was because of my boyfriend, but he came to me, hugged me, and said, 'That guy will only bring you down. Don't let him clip your wings.' If your dad says something like that, mapapaisip ka 'di ba?”

“He left his phone with me while he went to the bathroom. I saw the message pop up on the screen that basically said to just ditch me again tonight to come see her because she was ‘wet and tight.' Waited for him to come back and threw his phone out the road. Bastos.”

“I dropped her off at her house after our third anniversary dinner. I know it sounds awful but when she left my car, I felt so relieved that I survived the night. Like, natapos na. The feeling was gone. We broke up the next day, because apparently, she felt the same way, too.”

“I got a really amazing promotion at work, but it required me to go abroad. I asked my then boyfriend to have dinner the day I found out to break the news to him. The first thing he said was: ‘So, paano ako?’ No congratulations, no ‘I’m so proud of you’ speech. Nothing. He didn't even say ‘tayo.’ He then went on to accuse me of being selfish for accepting it without consulting him first. When I said ‘We can do long distance, there’s nothing wrong with that,’ he said he didn’t believe in it and that he didn’t even want to try. I realized I didn’t deserve someone who couldn’t support [and appreciate] my achievements.”
