Miss Universe titleholder Catriona Gray wore the most stunning—and now iconic “Three Stars and the Sun” ear cuff by Tessera Jewelry when she won the Miss Universe crown in 2018.
This time, Pinays might want to wear their national pride as Gazini Ganados, the Philippines’ bet to Miss Universe 2019, will be wearing what is called the "Watawat" earrings created by artist and accessory designer Kathryn Fanlo. The designer wrote, "Watawat—a symbol of peace, unity and Filipino pride."
The chandelier-type earrings were custom-made for Gazini. Part of the caption in the Instagram post of Kathryn reads: "Thank you for helping promote local talent and showing the rest of the world our rich culture."
Gazini, who arrived in Atlanta on November 29, has also been spotted wearing several of Kathryn’s creations, including this neckpiece with an image of a girl from Mindanao’s Ata tribe which is one of the 11 tribes in Davao known to live in the highlands:
Here’s a closer look at the neckpiece:
In a recent Instagram post, Gazini was spotted wearing yet another pair of earrings designed by Kathryn.
Based on one of the hashtags, it looks like these pieces were made in Davao. This particular piece is called the "Adelfa" earrings:
The Miss Universe coronation night will air live on ABS-CBN on December 9 at 8:00 a.m. You can help Gazini secure a spot in the Miss Universe Top 20 by voting for her on the official Miss Universe website for free until December 6.
