Kylie Verzosa on why she started SOLÁ
"It has always been a dream of mine to have my own business," the beauty queen-turned-actress told the press during SOLÁ's launch party. "I've been in the showbiz industry for the past eight years. My first love is acting, but I also have another passion, and that's fashion."
As a fashion girlie, Kylie revealed that she likes wearing shapewear under her clothes, and she used to get them from abroad. "They're expensive," she admitted. Plus, she noticed that they're "more catered to the European or Western market."
This inspired her to craft an affordable line of shapewear made for Asians. "We wanted to build a brand that was aspirational but at the same time still very attainable," SOLÁ's founder and creative director shared. At the end of the day, her main goal is to help "women feel good about themselves".
What does SOLÁ mean?
According to Kylie, the word SOLÁ means the sun. "In Latin, it [also] means a woman who can stand on her own."

My Honest Review of SOLÁ's Shapewear
What I tried: Sculpting Strapless Bodysuit
1. It's surprisingly ~comfortable~ to wear.
I got my usual size (large) and it fits perfectly! According to Roxelle Cortes, SOLÁ's head of product development, you may choose one size bigger for a more comfortable, relaxed fit.
The material is compressing but stretchy. It doesn't feel ~restrictive~. In fact, I tried wearing it the whole day while working and it didn't bother me at all.
As Kylie once said, "It looks small but don't worry, it will stretch."
2. It's seamless!
When worn, the shapewear disappears under my clothes, including a body-hugging dress. (The panty line is still visible, but I don't mind.)
3. It has snaps at the crotch.
Good news: You won't dread going to the bathroom since you don't need to take the whole thing off. It was also not that difficult to put it on, thanks to this convenient design.
4. It provides a ~smoothing~ effect to the body.
It did a good job of smoothing out any bumps and gently compressing my tummy. It's great as is, but I wouldn't mind some *extra* compression, especially in the puson area.
5. The sleeveless bodysuit doesn't roll down at the waist.
It's crafted with a silicone grip that keeps the tube in place. ;)
6. It comes in a variety of sizes.
I love that the SOLÁ team caters to different sizes—their product sizing is from XS to XXL. As mentioned earlier, you can size up for a comfier fit.
