If you were hoping Lady Gaga would show up at the Oscars in, like, an egg or something, your prayers have been answered (minus the egg). Actually, she arrived in a stuning sheer Versace gown that Gigi Hadid debuted just a few days ago (on March 9th) at the Versace FW23 show in Los Angeles.
Here’s Gigi in the look, FYI!
And good news: Despite early reports that Gaga wouldn’t be able to perform at the awards despite her Top Gun: Maverick song “Hold My Hand” being nominated, Page Six spoke to multiple sources who confirmed she actually will be.
Oscars executive producer Glenn Weiss previously said Gaga wouldn’t be performing during a press conference ahead of the show, saying, “We invited all five nominees. We have a great relationship with Lady Gaga and her camp. She is in the middle of shooting a movie right now. Here, we are honoring the movie industry and what it takes to make a movie after a bunch of back and forth…It didn’t feel like she can get a performance to the caliber that we’re used to with her and that she is used to. So, she is not going to perform on the show.”
Gaga is currently in the middle of filming Joker: Folie à Deux with Joaquin Phoenix, which is scheduled to be released in October 2024:
Gaga hopped on Instagram to celebrate her nomination ahead of the Oscars, writing, “Thank you so much to the Academy for nominating my song ‘Hold My Hand’ for an Oscar this year! Writing this song for the film Top Gun: Maverick was a deep and powerful experience that I will never forget. So grateful for the magic of music and cinema. Love you my co-writer @bloodpop I’m on set filming now big love to little monsters!”
