It’s always fascinating to see what trends and looks defined a particular decade. From handbags to engagement rings to wedding dresses, the “100 Years of…” video series has shown us just that. This time around, the focus is on a staple piece in every tropical girl’s closet—swimwear, of course!
What is amazing about this new clip, however, is that instead of relying on vintage maillots and bikinis from your lola’s and your mom’s generations, everything you’ll see is made of BODY PAINT.
So you have the classic bathing suit that first made an appearance in New York in 1916, and the pin-up style maillot of the ‘50s.
The bold red one-piece popularized in ‘90s hit show Baywatch also makes an appearance.
Along with the flashy monokini of the selfie generation!
