If Paris has Le Marais and Japan has Harajuku, then Singapore has Haji Lane. The candy-colored local shops of this strip, located in the Kampong Glam district, will score you a bucket load of cool fashion digs for a lot less than if you go shopping at the designer labels on Orchard Road.
Fashion girls, you simply cannot visit S’pore without hitting the hip spot. Not only will you discover great local boutiques that offer one-of-a-kind pieces, the street also has everything from clothes, shoes, accessories, to some of the cutest vintage décor, paintings, and a whole lot of other thingamajigs worth collecting.
And if that’s not enough to convince you, the area is also peppered with quaint IG-worthy cafes and graffiti-painted walls that serve as the perfect OOTD backdrops. But where shopping is concerned, we suggest you hit these independent stores first.
Hard to miss since it’s one of the first shops you will see, this store is filled with young and chic street-ready finds. We saw a lot of raw-edged pieces in different styles you won’t find in your fave fast fashion shops, strappy loafers, and leather purses in pretty pastel colors! The best part? They only create a maximum of three pieces for every style. Yes to exclusivity!
If you’re a minimalist who likes simple pieces punched up by classy details, Tangers is your stop. It has that Harlan + Holden vibe that will supply you with clean cuts and pretty pleats you can take from work to play. They even have an array of of-the-moment printed neck scarves!
TIME AFTER TIME
If it’s statement necklaces you seek, then you've come to the right place.
Two words: Vintage shopping! From the name itself, it’s pretty clear that Grammah is a haven for anythingyour lola would probably wear. Only a true fashion girl would see potential in the pieces here that most wouldn’t give a second glance at. If you’re one of those girls, then go ahead and dig through Grammah’s haul.
A couple of fashion bloggers have already named Crayon as one of their Haji faves, and after seeing the store ourselves, we finally understand why. It is filled with fun and trendy pieces made special with their own design twists. There’s surely something here for every type of girl.
BONUS: NA NA ROOM
Deep within the Bugis Street flea market is a hidden gem called Na Na Room. From vintage button-downs, casual coats, cool jumpsuits, to edgy skirts, it is worth that five-minute walk from Haji Lane to the Bugis area. You may not be able to fit the pieces, but unlike other small stores, you can return and exchange items within seven days and get more discount when you buy in bulk.
