Aishwarya Rai is a queen in the local movie industry in India, so it was entirely fitting that she walked down the red carpet at this year's Cannes Film Festival looking regal AF. The best part? Aishwarya stole the show in a *stunning* pale blue gown by none other than Michael Cinco! Our patriotic pride is off the roof with this one—Cinco's deft craftsmanship truly showed in this off-the-shoulder low-neck ball gown with the teeniest waist.
In an interview with Dubai's Khaleej Times, Cinco described the moment as "a dream come true." He added, "It's just that you've been working so hard and for so long—when you send the dresses to the celebs you are not sure they will wear it. For the Golden Globes and the Oscars, you have to remember, there are so many designers sending through their dresses. So you are not sure if they will pick yours."
Michael also said, "My assistant told me Aishwarya looked so beautiful even without makeup! She looked so happy wearing my gown and she told everyone then itself she will be wearing it for the opening of Cannes. She was telling everyone—'This is the dress.'"
We'd call this a Cinderella moment, if it weren't for the fact that we're pretty sure this gorgeous dress won't magically transform to rags come midnight.
In stylist Aastha Sharma's Instagram page, she shared that Aishwarya wore the gown with Boucheron jewelry and Salvatore Ferragamo heels.
Now, about that Mark Bumgarner gown. Aishwarya, who made her Cannes debut in 2002, is a seasoned pro at getting glammed up for the special event—and this sweeping floral dress by the Filipino designer is no exception.
On Instagram, Mark gushingly posted about the dress, a strapless sweetheart-neckline number with multicolored flowers embroidered on cream lace.
Vogue India and stylist Anisha Jain also posted about the look on Instagram, and in both updates, we can see the glitzy gold sandals Aishwarya paired with the dress.
There you have it, CGs—two homeruns for Filipino fashion designers! <3
