This Fashion Brand Had Models Wear Bags Over Their Heads

Fashion is confusing, y'all.

If you often find yourself wondering whether the latest fashion trends are some sort of weird prank (I'm looking at you, bedazzled Crocs), then boy, do I have a doozy for you.

During the Maison Margiela show at Paris Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2017, the designer sent not one, but two, models down the runway wearing giant handbags over their heads in place of hats. Piled high with colored hair and leather, the Margiela 5 AC bags/hats ended up making both models look like high fashion members of the Royal Guard—or, more accurately, modern day versions of the Bride of Frankenstein.

Before you rush to try to recreate the look yourself, you should probably know that Maison Margiela has since explained in an Instagram post that the decision to put the bags on their models' heads was simply a styling choice—and not meant to be a ~new fashion trend.~ That being said, as The Cut points out, it might still be worth it to give the look a try the next time you're having a bad hair day.
