Women's Fashion Guys Don't Get

Are you trying to win him over with your style? Real guys divulge what outfits irk them and why.
Featured
Cosmo chicks always want to make a good impression on a date, especially when they’re meeting a guy for the first time or going out with a hottie they’re lusting after. A lovely physical appearance is usually what would get a guy to notice you (before you win him over with your charm, of course), so prepping for a date involves carefully applying makeup (making sure it’s not too much or too bland) and picking that no-fail outfit.

We consult our girl friends on these matters, but did you ever wonder what guys really think of your fasyon frocks? Cosmo asked some real men what they have to say about some of your trendy picks.

Big Expensive Bags

I just don’t get how an LV bag can cost as much as a diamond ring and why women love having them when they all have the same print.
- Philippe, 28, Security Consultant

I don’t get those big expensive bags that girls like carrying around. It makes me wonder what’s inside or what things they have to bring for them to need a bag that big.

Shoulder Pads

Shoulder pads. If I wanted a woman in shoulder pads, I’ll just date an American football player. It looks hideous!

Sequins

I also don’t get sequins. Why dress up like a disco ball? I don’t see what’s beautiful in shining sequined outfits. It’s either I see my reflection or my eyes hurt from the light it reflects. I’m sure there’s a more clever way to tell a man you want your buttons pressed.

Eighties

If indeed revisiting the 80s is the new trend with sequins, shoulder pads, big hair, and power dressing, I’d rather be coined baduy and not look like an alien. A return to the 80s is like imagining your most embarrassing moment and wanting to relive it.
- Philippe, 28, Security Consultant

I don’t get the “back to the 80s” trend. Wasn’t that the ugliest and most unaesthetic era in humanity’s existence?

Leggings And Layering

I don’t get girls who wear skirts over leggings. Why can’t it be one or the other lang?
- Dan, 30, Businessman

I don’t get it when a girl wears a dress and wears leggings under it. Or why some girls wear shirts under a sundress. I’m really not into the whole layering look. It depletes the purpose of wearing a dress.

Hats

Fedoras. Unless you’re a man above 45, you shouldn’t wear one.
- Jeff, 31, Marketing Manager

The trucker caps that became fashionable because Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears kept wearing them to avoid the paparazzi—I really don’t get [them] especially when they look really awful on girls.

Gladiator Sandals

Gladiator sandals--parang papatayin niya ako in her get up. Where’s your sword and shield? She looks like she’s ready for war.
- Jeff, 31, Marketing Manager

I don’t get the gladiator sandals. They look like shoes from the time of Abraham and Moses. It’s just plain ugly.

Crocs

I don’t like Crocs on a girl. They say it’s super comfy to wear, but there are nicer-looking shoes out there that are comfy and casual too [without looking] like they’re for gardening.

Peasant Skirt

Girls look awkward wearing peasant skirts in a tropical/Asian country.

Anything Uncomfortable

Skimpy clothes that girls look uncomfortable in. Don’t wear them if you don’t feel comfy. There are girls who wear, for instance, short skirts [and] end up pulling them down to [lengthen them]. What’s the point of wearing skimpy if you want it to look longer?
- Patrick, 26, Project Manager

I don’t get girls who wear uncomfortable shoes. Why wear them if they don’t feel right?

Trendy Open Boots

I don’t get the open-toe, spaceship-type boots. They seem really odd to me. Why wear boots when they’re really not?

Wide Belts Worn On Your Waist

I don’t get big thick belts worn above the waist like the ones WWF wrestlers wear. I’m not sure if girls are either trying to pull off a corset look or they want to flatter the abdomen area because it surely doesn’t hold your pants in place.
- Francis, 27, Freelance Video Editor

I don’t get belts worn above the waist. They look funny to me and unflattering on a woman’s body because they sort of make it look disproportioned.

Loose Dresses

I don’t get dresses that make you look like a bell. They’re too loose, making you look heavy when you’re really not.

Ugg Boots

Ugg boots are a mystery to me. I know girls find them comfortable to wear but they are butt-UGGly! They’re not sexy looking at all!
- Frankie, 31, IT Programmer

One thing I don’t get and see some girls wearing are those Ugg boots with shorts. I don’t know why they like wearing them together when they obviously don’t match.
