1. Check if you can zip and button it with ease.
If you have to struggle or if your belly feels like it's being squeezed, it's time to go a size up. Getting a pair that's too tight will constrict movement and cause discomfort.
2. See if a camel toe is in sight.
Emphasis on the crotch is extremely unflattering. Have mercy on your lady parts!
3. Make sure you have some leg room.
Walk around the fitting room to see if your legs can move freely. Check if the side-stitchings have gaps—this means the pants are too small.
4. Do a butt check.
Squat to see if your butt crack appears, and check if the pants are hugging your booty way too tightly. Don't be embarrassed to ask for a larger size. If the pockets are too low and sagging, you should go a size smaller.
5. Show a bit of leg.
A floor-length pair normally works for people blessed with supermodel gams. For the rest of us, we're better off showing a bit of leg. FYI: Most denim brands have a partner alteration center where you can get your pants hemmed properly.
6. If all else fails, get one in stretch.
Stretch denim is the bomb because it's flattering for all builds. It hugs and lifts all the curves in your body, making you appear bootylicious!
