6 Ways To Keep Your Swimsuit In Shape

DO NOT HANG IT TO DRY.

Pre-treat.
Preserve the color of your swimsuit by soaking them in a vinegar-water solution. This will keep their hues vivid longer.

Shower before and after you wear swimsuit.
Showering before wearing your swimsuit will prevent it from absorbing body oils, perspiration, dirt, and product residue. Then, after swimming, hit the showers immediately to rinse chlorine or salt water off the fabric.

Avoid rough surfaces.
While sitting on the sand or on rocks to get the perfect shot sounds like a good idea, your swimsuit’s fabric might get snagged. Place a beach towel or scarf on the surface first before taking a seat.

Rinse your suit before using and storing.
Control chlorine and salt water absorption by drenching your swimsuit in water before slipping it on.

Spot-remove sunscreen stains with baking soda or vinegar.
Put a generous amount of baking soda directly on the sunscreen stain, allow to sit for two hours, and wash according to manufacturer’s suggestions. Alternatively, you can soak your swimsuit in one part vinegar and three parts warm water to lift the stain.

Lay it flat to dry.
Do not hang-dry swimsuits because the weight of the water will stretch out the elastic fibers. Instead, lay it flat on a towel to drip-dry, but don’t leave it on the towel for too long because this may also cause mildew. Take it off and continue to flat-dry the swimsuit in a well-ventilated, shaded area. Avoid direct sunlight because this will cause the color to fade fast.
