Staying true to your personal style when there's a dress code can be challenging, but not impossible. At the recent invitation-only launch event for the new Smart Signature Plans, celebrities, lifestyle content curators, and VIP Smart Postpaid subscribers put a spin on their signature looks for the "reimagined chic" dress code. The results? Outfits oozing with style and innovation. Read on to find out how you can add a dose of ~extra~ to your own OOTDs.
1. Wear gold from head to toe.
It’s elegant, it’s timeless, and it injects a party-ready vibe to any outfit—not to mention its something that will definitely make you feel special. But a gold floor-length frock is not for the timid; you need confidence to pull off this metallic look the same way Catriona Gray did. Keep everything else simple if you’re going all-gold—Cat kept things clean by pairing her gold, Swarovski crystal-embellished dress with a classy diamond belt and fresh, subtle glam makeup.
2. Go for a standout color.
Jumpsuits are super trendy, and you may already have a few of them in neutral colors. But if you want to make a statement with your look, bright red is the way to go. Miss World Philippines 2017 Laura Lehmann put her own sophisticated twist to a fiery one-shoulder jumpsuit by wearing it with gold geometric accessories.
3. Add patent leather to the mix.
Shiny accents can add some attitude to an otherwise simple look. Beauty vlogger Aryanna Epperson wore a patent leather mini skirt with her black-and-white ensemble—it gave the outfit the elements it needed to stand out and it lends a strong, in-control vibe to the whole look.
4. Quirk up an all-black ensemble.
It requires creativity to make a black outfit fresh and punchy. Mich Dulce was able to do it with quirky accessories: heeled saddle shoes, frilly socks, and a huge round fascinator—her creation, of course.
5. Give the look some texture.
A glittery jacket is a great option if you’re looking to add a little oomph to your outfit. Miss World Philippines 2019 Katarina Rodriguez topped a casual, worry-free tank top and jeans combo with a sequinned blazer for the perfect party outfit.
6. Add feminine elements.
Wearing something pretty, pastel, and delicate worked in Martine Cajucom-Ho's favor. The fashion and beauty entrepreneur looked fresh and feminine even at the nighttime event. To add some edge to her carefree look, Martine paired her frock with red lipstick.
7. Overaccessorize.
Take cues from photographer Shaira Luna and stack on your rings, bracelets, and necklaces. Make sure your jewelry stays within the same color family as your outfit—the warm tones of Shaira's outfit and accessories make sure they won't clash.
