Erratum: An earlier version of this article included a summary regarding the postponement of BINI’s European tour dates that was not clearly attributed or contextualized. The article has since been updated accordingly to more accurately reflect the official statement released by BINI’s management. Cosmopolitan Philippines regrets the error and any confusion it may have caused.

BINI has spent the last few years bringing Filipino pride to bigger and bigger stages. Whether it's topping music charts, selling out arenas, or introducing P-pop to international audiences, Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoanna, and Sheena have become some of the country's biggest cultural exports. And now, the eight-member girl group has another title to add to that growing list.

Today, July 3, the Department of Tourism (DOT) has officially named BINI as one of its newest Philippine tourism ambassadors, recognizing the group's growing influence in introducing the Philippines to audiences around the world.

Tourism Secretary Maria Bernardita "Dita" Angara-Mathay formally announced the appointment as part of the department's efforts to refresh the country's tourism campaign by partnering with Filipino artists who already command global attention. The announcement comes just weeks after the agency publicly expressed its intent to tap BINI following their historic international performances.

According to the DOT, BINI represents the kind of modern Filipino talent that naturally sparks curiosity about the country wherever they perform. Rather than relying solely on traditional tourism campaigns, the department is expanding its strategy by working with cultural figures whose influence already reaches millions of fans online and across international stages. (In addition to BINI, the agency also congratulated Sophia Laforteza of global girl group KATSEYE a few months ago for making waves on the Coachella stage.)

So, What Exactly Do Tourism Ambassadors Do?

BINI joins a growing list of celebrities who have worked with the Department of Tourism in recent years, including Vanessa Hudgens, Seo In Guk, Alan Shirahama, Kim Myung Soo, and Choi Bo Min.

Many of these international stars were tapped to help attract more tourists from countries like South Korea and Japan through destination campaigns, fan events, and digital content promoting the Philippines abroad. Vanessa, for example, visited Palawan for tourism features, while Korean actors like Seo In Guk, Kim Myung Soo, and Choi Bo Min participated in campaigns aimed at expanding the country's visibility among K-drama and K-pop fans.

So while the full details of BINI's ambassadorship haven't been announced yet, the group is expected to take part in upcoming DOT initiatives under the Love the Philippines campaign. That could include promotional content, tourism events, and projects highlighting Filipino culture and destinations to both local and global audiences.

Honestly, it's a role that already feels natural for the group. Between their Coachella performances, growing international fanbase, and global online reach, BINI has already been introducing more people to Filipino culture long before this official appointment.

BINI Represents Filipino Pride On The Global Stage

Earlier this year, BINI reached another career-defining milestone after becoming the first all-Filipino girl group to perform at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California. They took over the Mojave Stage, and their performances introduced festivalgoers from around the world to P-pop through a set packed with fan favorites like "Pantropiko," "Karera," "Cherry on Top," and "Salamin, Salamin."

BINI continued building their global momentum with the release of their EP Signals, while also earning major recognition at the Billboard Philippines Women in Music 2026, where they were named Powerhouse of the Year. The group also expanded their international presence by joining the global fan platform Weverse, and was recognized by The Orchard as part of its roster of rising global acts.

And with the group constantly moving forward, BINI also launched their Signals World Tour, beginning with sold-out shows in the Philippines before expanding to international stops. The tour reflects just how much their audience has grown beyond Filipino borders, with overseas Blooms turning each stop into a celebration of both music and Filipino identity.

BINI keeps pushing forward with the same energy they started with—working hard, staying grounded, and proudly putting Filipino music and artistry on the global stage. And with every milestone, they make it clearer that Filipino talent can reach global scenes without losing our identity.

Update as of July 4, 2026, 10 p.m.: However, navigating a massive global tour also comes with its challenges. According to an official advisory shared on BINI's social media accounts, the European leg of the Signals World Tour 2026 has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances beyond their control. Management has apologized for the inconvenience, stating that they are actively working to reschedule the dates and that all ticket buyers will receive refunds.

Despite these sudden scheduling adjustments abroad, BINI keeps pushing forward with the same energy they started with—working hard, staying grounded, and proudly putting Filipino music and artistry on the global stage. It's exactly this authentic global appeal that makes them a great fit for their new roles as Philippine tourism ambassadors. With every milestone, they make it clearer that Filipino talent can invite the world in and reach global scenes, all without losing who we are.
