BINI Made Coachella History—And Behind It All Is A Bold Bet That Took Them To The Global Stage

OMG, it finally happened: BINI just brought P-pop to one of the biggest music stages in the world—and they didn't hold back.

The eight-member group made their debut at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival 2026, held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, on April 10. Their first weekend set ran for about 45 minutes at the Mojave stage, where they performed 10 songs in a tightly packed, high-energy set. They’re set to return for the second weekend on April 17.

From the moment Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoanna, and Sheena stepped out, it was clear this wasn't just another performance. The girls opened with "Shagidi," immediately locking in the crowd with sharp choreography and a stage presence that felt right at home in Coachella.

They kept the momentum going with fan favorites like "Karera" and "Out of My Head," while also introducing newer tracks like "Blush," which they performed live for the first time! The set eventually built up to "Pantropiko," turning the Mojave tent into one big sing-along moment that felt equal parts concert and celebration.

Before stepping onstage, the group admitted they were nervous about the turnout. But those worries quickly faded. As they stepped onto the stage in their statement Coachella looks, the crowd met them with full energy—fans waving Philippine flags and Bloombilyas (their BINI lightsticks!) and showing up in outfits inspired by Filipino fashion. Online, the support was just as loud, with many calling it a milestone moment for OPM and Filipino representation on the global stage.

BINI's Coachella moment came from consistent hard work, a clear long-term vision, and a deliberate push to invest in Filipino talent ready for the global stage. Their inclusion in the lineup was announced in September 2025, after their BINIVERSE World Tour, which ran from February 15, 2025 to June 21, 2025. While it looked like a typical international expansion, it was actually a calculated risk behind the scenes.

In an interview with Karmina Constantino on KC After Hours, Director Lauren Dyogi, Head of Star Magic, shared that the team approached the tour as a way to gain visibility among global promoters rather than to generate profit.

"Laging ang nasa utak natin, one way to go international is to be invited in big festivals [like] Coachella and Lollapalooza...It was a vision of CLK to hire an international group of consultants who will guide us in terms of how do we bring our artists to the global arena, so we are guided by that. Kasi abroad naman agents eh," he explained, referring to Carlo L. Katigbak, the President and CEO of ABS-CBN Corporation.

With the help of international agents, BINI was introduced to major global promoters like Live Nation and All Things Live—the same names behind some of the biggest festival lineups.

"Ngayon when we were able to get an agent, nadala tayo sa promoters na non-Filipinos. And these promoters, ang vision talaga nun is if we were able to impress the promoters, itong mga promoters na 'to, sila [rin] 'yung magdadala sa atin sa festival."

He also explained, "Itong recent world tour, it was an investment. Wala tayong kita diyan. It was really a risk on our end."

And combined with the girls' hard work and talent, it was a risk that clearly paid off. Their concert's international stops, especially in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Dubai, showed they could hold their own and draw in diverse crowds. And voilà—that's exactly what led them to the Coachella stage this year!

Knowing how big the opportunity was, the girls went all in on preparation. They arrived in California in two batches on March 28 and 29 and immediately jumped into work. On day one alone, they powered through a seven-hour rehearsal, running through vocals, choreography, and stage blocking like it was show day already. Every detail mattered, especially knowing they were about to perform in front of a global crowd.

And they didn't stop there. BINI made it clear: it's not enough to look good—you have to sound good too. By day two, they were already in full dress rehearsals, performing in their actual stage outfits while tightening every transition and cue. It was all about making the set feel effortless, even if the prep was anything but.

BINI's Coachella debut marked a major win for the group and raised the bar for what Filipino artists can achieve on the global stage. And if this is any sign of what's next, we're definitely seeing more of the girls on major stages soon—and we're all here for it!
