Freshly married and glowing with happiness, Carla Abellana is entering this new chapter of her life with both excitement and intention. After tying the knot with Dr. Reginald Santos on December 27, 2025, the actress is now looking ahead to what she calls one of her biggest dreams yet: building a family of her own.

In a 24 Oras interview aired on January 14, Carla shared that among their immediate plans as newlyweds are a honeymoon in Europe (as one does!) and beginning their journey toward parenthood. "Hopefully, 'di ba, makapag-start na kami mag-build ng family if God permits," she said. "'Yun ang focus bilang the clock is ticking din, 'di ba? Magfo-40 na 'ko this year."

Carla Abellana Opens Up On Marriage And Family Plans

Carla revealed that she and Dr. Reginald are open to in vitro fertilization as a backup plan, something she finds reassuring rather than intimidating. Last year, the actress also talked about freezing her eggs, a deeply personal process made easier by her husband's support. "At one point, he gave me my daily injections. He was present and supportive," she said. "Let's say kung hirap man kami na mag-conceive naturally, at least merong ganong backup, merong ganong option."

This grounded, thoughtful outlook also extends to how Carla views love and marriage now. In a recent guesting on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, she spoke candidly—and with her signature humor—about her past. Joking about her previous marriage to Tom Rodriguez, which lasted for seven weeks, she said, "Nag-jo-joke nga ako [to Dr. Reginald]. We're married two weeks, so konti na lang ma-bi-beat ko na yung dating record ko." We love a little self-aware humor.

But beyond the laughs, there's a deeper sense of growth. Reflecting on how she and Dr. Reginald found their way back to each other, Carla emphasized the importance of timing and healing. "Ang dami kong pinagdaanan para mag-improve, para matuto, para mag-heal," she shared. "So I think yung timing talaga." In other words: second chances only work when you've done the inner work—and she's done it.

Their love story, after all, goes way back. The two first met as teenagers at O.B. Montessori in Greenhills—Carla a first-year high school student, Dr. Reginald already in his senior year and a future doctor-in-the-making. Life pulled them apart when med school took over, but years later, with more life experience and healing behind them, they found their way back to each other.

In her wedding vows, Carla called Dr. Reginald her "first and last" love. True to that commitment, she looks forward to fully experiencing married life with him: "Looking forward at least ngayon ma-experience ko siya. Whether it's the honeymoon stage, whether it's [the] challenge na dumaan—whatever it is. That's part of getting married, experiencing married life for the first time."
