Dennis Trillo Really Did That! He Won Best Actor At The Asian Academy Creative Awards For 'Green Bones'

Asia just got a reminder that the Philippines doesn't play around on the big stage. Dennis Trillo scored a huge win, taking home the Best Actor in a Leading Role at the 2025 Asian Academy Creative Awards (AACA) in Singapore on December 4, 2025. He bested 11 other stars from the Asia-Pacific region—including K-drama fave Park Bo-gum for When Life Gives You Tangerines, F4-renowned Vic Chou for The World Between Us : After the Flames Season 2, and Australian Hollywood star Jacob Elordi for The Narrow Road to the Deep North.

Dennis was recognized for his powerhouse performance as Domingo Zamora in Green Bones, a gripping drama produced by GMA Pictures and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Zig Dulay. The story follows Domingo, a soon-to-be-released prisoner whose past crimes, plus a prison guard's personal mission to keep him behind bars, threaten his freedom. The story explores the mystical belief that green bones in a person's remains reflect the goodness of their life—a concept Dennis brings to life with intensity and depth.

Though Dennis couldn't make it to the awards night at Singapore's Capitol Theatre, Gigi Santiago-Lara, GMA Network Vice President for Musical, Variety, Specials, and Alternative Productions for Entertainment Group and Philippine Ambassador to the AACA, proudly accepted the award on his behalf. "This is such a surprise and we are so honored to receive this [on] behalf of Mr. Dennis Trillo, Green Bones, the producers, Nessa Valdellon, the writers Mr. Ricky Lee and Anj Atienza," she said during the ceremony.

Dennis himself shared his excitement on Instagram: "PANALO ang Pilipinas! panalo ang PILIPINO🏆 Truly grateful for this @asianacademycreativeawards. Thank you very much 🙏."

This international win adds to an already impressive list of awards for Dennis, who also won Best Actor at the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2024, the 48th Gawad Urian Awards, the Gawad Parangal ng Bayaning Pilipino, and the 41st Star Awards for Movies—all for his role in Green Bones.

Among the 40 categories in the 2025 ACAA, the Philippines also bagged Best Adaptation of an Existing Format (Scripted) for ABS-CBN's Saving Grace, an adaptation of the Japanese drama series Mother, starring Sharon Cuneta, Julia Montes, and Zia Grace. It looks like Pinoy artists are standing tall among Asia's best. 🇵🇭
