Is It The End Of An Era For Donny Pangilinan And Belle Mariano? Here's What They Have To Say

Published on Apr 28, 2026
Working as onscreen partners since 2021, Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano shared that Tayo Sa Wakas, their upcoming film, is shaping up to be their most challenging project together yet. For one, the two actors revealed that this is going to be their last project as a love team—for now.
The two candidly opened up about their decision on Paano Ba 'To? podcast with Bianca Gonzalez acknowledging that this may not be the "usual route" for Filipino love teams, Donny and Belle said they are choosing to close this chapter to focus on their individual growth, especially in their careers.
"We've done so many projects, 'di ba? Throughout the years. But I think me and Belle decided that for this specific project, it will be our last DonBelle project for now," Donny disclosed while exchanging a look with Belle during the interview.
Belle shared that parting ways was a "mutual decision" for the both of them. She emphasized that it was not made overnight, but rather something they had carefully discussed over time, maintaining open and honest communication throughout.
She also shared that their families and even the people they worked with on set were already aware of the decision. While emotional for many, it was ultimately met with support.
"That's why this project required so much growth for him and I. And time apart, I feel like [it] would allow us to grow. Actually find what we want, find who we are, and come back as better people," Belle expressed.
The two acknowledged the fears that come with moving forward on separate paths, but said they are choosing to face them head-on. They remain supportive of each other, stressing that this decision is meant to help them grow, explore new opportunities, and elevate their craft in the industry without being tied to a love team.
"And since He's Into Her, it's been every year for us, project after project. You know, it's something that we're very, very proud of and grateful for that we went through that," Donny said.
Belle responded, "It's scary, yes. But it's exciting also. And now that knowing that, we're really so dedicated in doing this project really, really well. And we're just so excited for what's ahead for the both of us."
How Donny Pangilinan And Belle Mariano Are Reshaping Love Team Culture With Firmer Boundaries
During the interview, the two actors also got real about the struggles they have faced together as a love team. Donny shared that while he understands the "fascination" with fans wanting their idols to fall in love in real life, it doesn't always have to happen that way.
"Being in a love team, there are so many great things about it. And we're so blessed to have gone through that. However, obviously, there are also stuff there. Too much. Sometimes, we forget that we're human, right?" Donny opened.
"It gets to a point that you're being dictated by other people and what actions you guys are going to do, and parang sinasabihan, they're imposing their views on what should be done. It really does get hard. It does get pressuring. It is hard when there are a lot of people looking at you, listening to what you're going to say, trying to switch the narrative, trying to make me and Belle fight," he added.
Belle echoed the sentiment, saying it is high time to talk about these realities—especially in the age of social media, where the line between personal and professional life can easily become blurred. She emphasized that everything people say and do online carries weight.
"We all have the capability to influence one's life through social media. So we have to be careful on what we put out there. There's so much more going on in this world. I hope that's where we spend our time," she added.
The two assured fans that despite all these, #DonBelle is not disappearing—they will always be there. Like anyone else, they shared that they are also growing, setting stronger boundaries, and making choices that align with their goals and aspirations.
