It's been a hot minute since Gerald Anderson made headlines, and now he's back—not with a new romance, but with big plans for 2026. After his split from Julia Barretto, the actor is all about leveling up his career, leaving love off the table for now.
In a recent interview with ABS-CBN about his Metro Manila Film Fest (MMFF) movie entry Rekonek, Gerald didn't beat around the bush when asked if he'd be making time for his love life in 2026.
"I don't think so. Ang main focus right now is building sa professional career ko and building sa personal life," he shared. "And kapag naghahanap ka ng love life, hindi darating 'yan. Darating lang 'yan unexpectedly. So, right now, I'm just focused sa work. Nakikita niyo naman, iba yung drive ko ngayon."
And by "focused on work," he really means it. Gerald is making big moves both in front of and behind the camera. He's starring in Rekonek alongside Cosmo cover girl Andrea Brillantes, Gloria Diaz, Carmina Villaroel, Zoren Legaspi, and Charlie Dizon. Gerald shared that the movie has all the Christmas feels, but with a modern twist. It's about surviving 10 days without the internet and finding new ways to connect with the people you love.
This year marked several firsts for Gerald: stepping into the director's chair, producing his own projects, and pitching new concepts for 2026. On top of all that, he was recently recognized as one of Star Magic's Loyalty Awardees for 2025, marking an impressive 20 years with the agency.
"Sometimes Papa God gives you everything but also gives you a lot of challenges, obstacles at the same time," he said. "Every blessing, every failure, every success, lahat 'yan may learnings."
