Jasmine Curtis-Smith Had The Best Comeback To Yet Another Sexually Suggestive Remark

Published on Mar 10, 2026
As Women’s Month begins, it serves as a reminder that sexism may still exist, but women can push back harder just like what actress Jasmine Curtis-Smith is doing—especially after another prominent lawyer made sexist remarks directed at her and other women.
ICYMI, Congressman Bong Suntay recently faced backlash after making sexually suggestive remarks during House committee deliberations involving the actress Anne Curtis. His sexually charged comments quickly sparked backlash online and drew criticism from women’s rights advocates and public figures alike.
Among those who spoke out were several celebrities, including Jasmine, who called out the congressman for perpetuating narratives that objectify women. She previously stressed that such remarks, especially when made by men in power, reinforce harmful attitudes that reduce women to objects rather than recognizing them as individuals with agency and dignity.
Unfortunately, there were others like lawyer Ferdinand Topacio who seemed to miss the point entirely, choosing instead to defend the congressman—and even adding his own share of sexist remarks to the conversation.
"Kahit anong sama ng iniisip mo… hindi kasalanan 'yon," the lawyer argued in his segment at DWIZ.
He went on to criticize Jasmine and appeared to shift the blame toward women themselves, even bringing up other celebrities such as Ivana Alawi for posting "bikini" photos on social media, which he claimed were meant to "sell likes and views."
"Ikaw Jasmine, bakit ka nagpo-post ng bikini pictures mo sa social media, sa mga pahayagan? Hindi ba para ikaw ay pagnasahan at sumikat?" Ferdinand blurted.
"'Wag mong sabihing art 'yon o ine-endorso mo 'yung brand nung bikini. BS 'yan," he added.
In a now-expired Instagram Story, Jasmine slammed the remark and shared a clip of the lawyer's comments with the caption: "YOWWWWW WHAT THE ACTUAL ?????? WHAT THE!!!! DUGYOT KA!"
Jasmine's mother, Carmencita Ojales, didn't let the situation slide either. Carmen called out the lawyer, describing his remarks as "unacceptable" and completely "below the belt." She added that the statement wasn't just meant to disrespect Jasmine, but also all women.
"That kind of behaviour is disgusting, disgraceful, and absolutely unacceptable. You were not only disrespecting my daughter, but showing disrespect to all woman. Think carefully before you speak!!!! Your words have consequences," she said.

Sarah said she would not let the incident pass, emphasizing that such statements fall under gender-based sexual harassment as defined by the Safe Spaces Act, more widely known as the Bawal Bastos Law. The law penalizes lewd remarks and other forms of gender-based sexual harassment in public spaces, workplaces, and online platforms. It's also under this law that penalizes acts such as catcalling.
"Walang puwang sa lipunang naghahangad ng tunay na pagbabago ang ganitong kaisipan at pag-uugali. Patuloy na kumilos, mag-organisa upang wakasan ang lahat ng anyo ng seksismo at karahasan laban sa kababaihan!" she added.

A previous report also revealed that Topacio is the same lawyer who faced backlash for his body-shaming remarks against Angel Locsin in 2020, when he called the actress a "lobo" in a post on X. Talent manager Ogie Diaz called him out and even urged the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) to investigate the lawyer's conduct.
