Kris Lawrence Is Courting Katrina Halili Again, And She Opens Up About Forgiveness And Co-Parenting

Katrina Halili just got real about her feelings toward her daughter Katie's father, Kris Lawrence. In her latest vlog uploaded on July 10, she visited her cousin Sheena Halili, and the two had a heartfelt catch-up. At one point, Sheena playfully teased Katrina about her blooming look lately, saying, "Siguro na-forgive mo na."

Katrina, who admitted that she's now really comfortable around Kris, quickly agreed. "Ah oo naman. The fact na kinakausap ko na siya, na-forgive na siya." ICYDK, Katrina and Kris separated in January 2014 after being in a five-year relationship. In an interview later that year, Katrina said they simply needed time to work on themselves, adding that their breakup was caused by a "lack of maturity" and "financial instability."

Eventually, the former couple has embraced a co-parenting setup for Katie. Kris previously shared in 2016 that while it started off on a rough note, they eventually managed to settle their differences.

In the vlog, Katrina looked back on how different things used to be between them compared to where they are now. "Dati pag nagkikita kami, nod lang… Umaalis na 'ko. Hindi ko siya pinapansin," she recalled. She also admitted that she used to avoid him as much as possible. "Ayoko siya nakikita. Tsaka pagdating niya minsan papa-massage na 'ko sa taas para di ko makita."

But now, even Sheena acknowledged how much things have changed for the better. "Di ba masaya si Katie, tsaka masaya ka," she said with a laugh.

Katrina also shared that she's happier with the relationship she now has with her daughter, recalling how guilty she used to feel during the more difficult years. "Bago ako matulog, parang, nagso-sorry ako kay Katie. Wala akong time, ganyan."

The vlog also showed glimpses of Katrina and Kris' current dynamic, with Kris regularly checking in on them through chats and video calls. Earlier this month, Katrina even posted another vlog documenting how Kris surprised them by renovating their house, with the two shopping together for new appliances and furniture.

And an even better update, last June, fans found out that Kris started courting Katrina again and is serious about giving their relationship a "second chance." In the June 18 episode of Hot Take, he said: "If I am given a second chance, it's something that I am not going to f*ck up. Something that I am not going to mess up. It's one of those situations where [I'm like] 'Don't mess this up Kris.'"

He also shared that this year has been much gentler for them and that every decision they make is centered around what's best for Katie. "I'm very, very grateful [that Katrina] kept me in the decision that we're co-parenting a hundred percent and everything is so beautiful right now. Napansin namin yung smile [ni Katie], a big shift. Katie's smile is so much better; it's so genuine."

He continues, "Now she feels love from both parents. I'm there every single day. She sees that me and Kat are happy. The fact that me and Kat are happy, it trickles down to her and it makes her feel secured and loved. The magnitude is just phenomenal."

Earlier this year, the internet was pleasantly surprised when Katrina and Kris shared photos from their family vacation in El Nido, Palawan. Katrina also documented the trip in a vlog, and fans couldn't help but root for the two once again.

Whether or not romance is in the cards for them again, it's heartwarming to see Katrina and Kris reach a place of peace, forgiveness, and happiness—for themselves and, most importantly, for Katie.
