The Biggest Headlines That Wildcard Housemates Know But Can't Share Now That They're Back In Bahay Ni Kuya

Published on May 21, 2025
The Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition "Wildcard" szn is here. It may be a fresh concept for most Pinoy viewers of the hit reality show, but the truth is, wildcards are actually a thing in other PBB shows in other countries.
In the simplest terms, PBB's wildcard segment is about two ex-housemates returning to the PBB House. Yes, those who were evicted from this season are given the chance to return to Big Brother's House (or in our terms: Bahay ni Kuya a.k.a. BNK) and compete once again to be the Big Winner.
Some users on the Internet have been calling it unfair, since the other housemates who are yet to step out of Kuya's House have been steadily competing for a spot in the finals. Some call it an exciting feature of this season since there are high chances that the wildcard housemates will alter the balance inside BNK once again. Whatever it is, the wildcard szn will definitely amp up the competition one way or another.
Charlie Fleming and Ralph de Leon are the chosen ex-housemates making their return to Kuya's House, thanks to Pinoy Big Brother's audience voting system. Although they're coming in as wildcards, they're still expected to follow all the house rules. One key rule? No spilling tea from the outside world, which, let's be honest, could make or break their second chance.
It could be hard not to talk about everything that happened in the outside world. The trends? The controversies? The news? All waiting to be spilled on the housemates who have been living inside the house since March 9, 2025. Can you imagine? It seemed like ages ago, but it's only been less than three months since PBB: Celebrity Collab Edition started. So, we did some digging on what Charlie and Ralph are not supposed to talk about—just because we want to.
Three months might not sound long, but trust us—a lot went down.

Kim Seon Ho Challenge
Trends—especially on the Internet—come and go faster than you can hit "refresh." So it's not surprising that in just three months, we've already seen plenty come and go. But two online trends? They didn’t just pass us by—they lived rent-free in our heads for weeks.
I think we just got over the "Kim Seon Ho Smile Challenge," that got everyone winking and keeping their one eye open. It's that trend where people act like they're shocked, then place a hand over their heart (or chest for some, haha) while closing their eyes. And then, they open one eye to the tune of Ariana Grande's "Supernatural." The pop star even compiled viral videos of "Supernatural" being used for the trend and thanked everyone who supported her track.
Perhaps not many may know, but the trend originated from one specific scene of Kim Seon Ho in the critically acclaimed K-drama When Life Gives You Tangerines. Now, everyone knows him (again) and that viral scene.

What Haffen Vella?
Okay, let's talk about this for a sec. Years (!) after his It's Showtime debut as a Kalokalike contestant (obviously of Taylor Lautner, who starred as Jacob in the cult classic, Twilight) Christopher Diwata is suddenly back in the spotlight. Out of nowhere, the Internet unearthed his old TV moment—and the rest? Pure viral gold. His voice is all over TikTok, dominating FYPs, and officially making everyone ask: what hafen vella? why you crying? vamfyr, ryt? vamfyr will feyt to me.
(P.S. Even Netflix joined in the fun.)

Kim Soo Hyun's Controversy
If I were inside the Pinoy Big Brother house, I'd probably still be thinking that South Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun is one of the most respected and beloved stars of all time. But out here in the real world, that doesn't seem to be the case anymore.
The saga is never-ending. But all you (or the housemates, for this matter) have to know is how Kim Soo Hyun was allegedly romantically involved with the late actress Kim Sae Ron back when she was still a minor. Although the actor has strongly denied the issue, the consecutive exposès resulted in the public demanding an apology and absolute accountability from him. Now, the future is uncertain for the once-loved actor. Not to mention that multiple brands have canceled partnerships with him.
While South Korea and the whole world were enraged by Kim Soo Hyun's issue, the housemates inside BNK weren't. One of the housemates, Esnyr, even mentioned Kim Soo Hyun to Kim Ji Soo when the latter became a house guest.
The moment that Esnyr asked Kim Ji Soo if he had ever worked with Kim Soo Hyun went viral. It was actually a moment that reminded viewers just how much the housemates are unaware of.

Former President Duterte's ICC Arrest
On March 11, 2025, former President Rodrigo Duterte was arrested by the International Criminal Court in connection with his administration's war on drugs. He was promptly transferred to the Netherlands for his hearing—a move that quickly sparked widespread public response.
The nation was split: many expressed support for the ICC's actions, while others rallied behind Duterte, with the "I Stand With PRRD" campaign gaining traction. Regardless of the divide, Duterte was recently re-elected as mayor of Davao City.

Philippine Polls
The former president’s mayoral win brings us to the bigger picture: we've got a fresh batch of Senators heading to the Senate, plus new local officials taking office across the country. To be fair, the housemates probably expected the elections to happen while they were inside BNK—the campaign period kicked off way before they entered the house.
Charlie and Ralph, though, are well aware of the election results. In fact, Ralph even cast his vote. He posted a post-election selfie saying, "Vote wisely, everybody!" featuring his charming smile while lifting his index finger up.

Pope Leo XIV succeeds Pope Francis
While the Philippines welcomed new (and some returning) government officials, the Catholic Church went through a whirlwind of emotions. On April 21—Easter Monday—the Vatican announced the passing of Pope Francis, citing a stroke and irreversible cardiocirculatory collapse as the cause of death.
Naturally, the news shocked the world. But what caught some Catholics even more off guard? The announcement of the first (!) American Pope. On May 8, 2025, Pope Leo XIV was officially proclaimed as the new head of the Church.
And honestly, stan culture may have had something to do with the collective surprise—because yes, people had bias cardinals. Some were rooting for Filipino Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle to become Pope, even sharing clips and photos of him at the Vatican like he had fansites. No, seriously—there were edits.

Celebrity Deaths
In just three months, the entertainment industry has mourned the loss of several remarkable and beloved icons. Among them were Pilita Corrales, Nora Aunor, Hajji Alejandro, and Ricky Davao—each leaving behind a legacy that helped shape Philippine showbiz. Their passing marks the end of an era and has left countless hearts grieving.

Miss Universe Philippines
A new queen has been crowned. When the housemates come out—hopefully before the grand Miss Universe pageant in November—they'll be introduced to Miss Universe Philippines 2025 titleholder Ahtisa Manalo. Let's not forget how the beauty queen gracefully stood up from her viral fall at the MUPH stage.
And her winning answer? "I fell awhile ago on stage, and the thing with me is whenever I fall in life, I always make sure I come back stronger. Last year, I was here on this stage, and for the second time this year, I'm here putting everything on this stage to be Miss Universe Philippines, because this is mine and my grandmother's shared dream. And she passed away early this year. And this is my ode to her." Queenly!
