Rufa Mae Quinto Gets Real About Her Legal And Marital Struggles—And Why She's Coming Back To Showbiz

It's never too late to start again—whether that's in love, or in Rufa Mae Quinto's case, in life.
"Nagsisimula ako ngayon ulit," Rufa divulged in an interview with ABS-CBN News. The actress-comedienne noted that she's starting over in a "clean slate, brand new."
Rufa Mae was embroiled in a legal issue reportedly filed by 39 individuals, and a semi-public marital problem with her now-ex-husband, Trevor Magallanes. Just recently, the legal case filed against her was dismissed by the court, and Rufa Mae is leaving it at that.
"Hindi na. Kasi hindi ko rin naman sila kilala eh. Saka hindi na rin naman nila nilaban, eh. Parang one or two lang na nag-hearing. Yun lang yun," she said when asked about filing a countercharge.
Nonetheless, the incident left a mark not only on Rufa Mae's career but also on her emotional well-being. While she expressed relief over the case's dismissal, she admitted that the weight of the experience still lingers. “Ang saya-saya mo, pero at the same time, flashback pa rin. Kumbaga, siguro proseso ang mangyayari," she said.
Rufa added, "At least ngayon malaya ka, makakalabas ka na, kahit saan ka pumunta. Nagkapag-asa ako—chance."
Almost at the same time, Rufa Mae and her then-husband Trevor were actually figuring things out as a married couple. But it was in December 2024, when Trevor reportedly announced that they had filed for divorce already. Amid everything, the two remain committed to spending time and raising their daughter, Athena.

Rufa Mae Quinto's career in the Philippines
Just recently, Rufa Mae has been allotting her time for guest appearances in various variety shows and brand endorsements. It was years ago when Rufa Mae took a break from showbiz and built a family with Trevor in the United States.
As we all know, Rufa Mae has been one of the most well-known actresses of her generation. In the early 2000s, she gained stardom because of her effortless humor and her now-iconic line, "Go, Go, Go."
Now, Rufa Mae has decided to rebuild her life and career in the Philippines—all while juggling her responsibilities as a working mom to her daughter, Athena. But it's not to say that she has completely left her life in San Francisco. She told ABS-CBN News that she'll still find time to visit the U.S. since she's already a resident there.
Looking forward, Rufa Mae is all set to come back into acting. In a way, her desire to try acting once again is not just for herself, but for her daughter. SHe shared that her daughter doesn't really know how that she's a well-known celebrity in the Philippines.
So she thinks this might be the perfect timing. "Sabi ko, 'This is really my life. But I chose to you know, chose family—US to take care of you, to be normal. You have to know, who I am, who you are, yes!" Rufa said in the interview with ABS-CBN.
