Going back to school isn't always easy—but for Ruffa Gutierrez, it's a powerful reminder that growth doesn't come with an age limit.

At 51, the beauty queen-actress is officially back in student mode as she pursues her master's degree in Communication Arts at the Philippine Women's University (PWU), the same school where she earned her bachelor's degree in 2022.

Ruffa shared the news on Instagram on December 15, posting snaps from her return to campus and opening up about rediscovering her love for learning. "Feeling inspired to rekindle my passion for learning! 📚📖🤓 Back at my beloved alma mater, Philippine Women's University, diving into my Master's in Communication Arts!" she wrote.

She also left us with a line we'll probably be screenshotting for motivation: "Remember, if you need to hit that restart button, it's never too late! It's not always easy, but wow, is it worth it!"

As she kicked off her graduate studies, Ruffa also dropped by PWU's head office to personally greet the school's administrators, calling the moment one to cherish. "Let's go after what makes our souls shine!" she wrote—and honestly, that's the mindset we're bringing into the new year.

Back in 2021, Ruffa revealed she had decided to return to school after a 34-year break. Like many artistas, she started working young—she was just 13 when she entered showbiz—which meant putting academics on pause to focus on her career.

It wasn't until her late 40s that she made the bold decision to pursue higher education again. In 2022, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Communication Arts from PWU under the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP)—a milestone she proudly shared online.

"Don't downgrade your dream just to fit your reality. Upgrade your conviction to match your destiny," Ruffa wrote at the time, thanking PWU's ETEEAP team and her loved ones for their unwavering support. She also announced at the time that she was officially enrolling as an MA Communication Arts student.

More than a personal achievement, Ruffa has said she hopes her story inspires other women—especially her daughters, Lorin and Venice—to believe that it's never too late to start over, learn something new, or chase a long-held dream.
