Vice Ganda Shares Why She Wants Kids And How She And Ion Perez Are Making It Happen

Celebrity couple Vice Ganda and Ion Perez are ready to take the next step in their relationship: starting a family through surrogacy. The heartfelt revelation came in a candid interview with Karen Davila on YouTube, which premiered on December 18. During the conversation, Vice shared that they've already consulted a doctor and are seriously planning the process, with Vice's genes set to be used for the child.

"Gusto talaga namin. Nag-consult na ako sa doctor. Pinaplano na nga," Vice said. She added that Ion often teases about using her genes, saying, "Mas maganda yung sa'yo… Matalino yung sa'yo," highlighting the playful dynamic of their relationship.

Surrogacy is a legal arrangement where a woman carries and gives birth to a baby for someone else, who will then become the legal parent. To ensure the procedure is successful, Vice revealed that doctors advised a three-month rest period to optimize sperm health, which she admitted is a challenge given her packed schedule.

"Kung stressed daw ako, hindi healthy ang sperm. Para makasiguro na healthy, kailangan masaya at relaxed ang utak. Kung pagod ang katawan at utak, hindi tayo sure," she explained, emphasizing how physical and mental well-being are crucial for the process, especially at her age of 49.

Yet as much as Vice looks forward to parenthood, the idea of stepping away from It's Showtime for three months weighs heavily. Even brief absences from the long-running noontime show spark messages from viewers and management alike.

"Hindi dahil sa yung kita ko mawawala… pero sa sobrang pagmamahal ko sa It's Showtime, parang, 'What's going to happen if I'm not there for three months?'" she admitted. Even during shoots for other projects, Vice keeps tabs on the show, highlighting just how much she cares about the team and audience.

Despite this, her desire to become a parent remains strong. "I want kids because I love kids. Gusto kong magmahal ng bata. Gusto kong yumakap ng bata. Gusto kong mahalin yung bata. Gusto ko ring tumanggap ng pagmamahal [mula] doon sa bata," she shared. While adoption remains an option, Vice and Ion hope to have a biological child.

Vice and Ion, together since 2018, officially celebrated their commitment in a Las Vegas ceremony in October 2021. Meanwhile, Vice is also starring in the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) film Call Me Mother, where she plays a character planning to surprise her adoptive son, Angel, by finalizing his adoption papers—provided that no one claims him within three months.
