Everything You Need To Know About K-Pop Girl Group IVE

They're the group behind the songs that keep playing in your head on repeat, the performances that break the internet, and the visuals that have everyone double-tapping. Plus, they're already one of the most talked-about names in 4th-generation K-pop. If you haven't been paying attention yet, it's time you "DIVE into IVE" (Spoiler: This is how the group officially introduces themselves!).

IVE is a six-member girl group made up of An Yujin, Gaeul, Rei, Jang Wonyoung, Liz, and Leeseo. They're under Starship Entertainment, the same company that debuted K-pop favorites like SISTAR, MONSTA X, and WJSN.

Their name comes from the English phrase "I have"—a confident declaration that they already embody everything a girl group needs to succeed, proving they were complete from day one. The group blends fresh talent with familiar faces: An Yujin and Jang Wonyoung previously debuted as part of IZ*ONE, the project group born from the survival show Produce 48. That early fame helped spark attention, but IVE quickly carved out their own identity when they debuted on December 1, 2021 with the album ELEVEN.

IVE made an unforgettable debut with their title track "ELEVEN," showcasing polished choreography and striking visuals. Just a week later, on December 8, they scored their first music-show win, making them the fastest girl group ever to do so. The song went on to earn a total of 13 music show wins.

The very next day, on December 9, they unveiled their official fandom name, DIVE, through a special video message shared on their social channels.

IVE kept the momentum going in 2022 with "LOVE DIVE" and "After LIKE," both of which dominated charts and earned them major "Song of the Year" honors at award shows. Their full-length studio album and subsequent releases have cemented IVE as one of the defining faces of K-pop's fourth generation.

Yujin is the playful heart of IVE, balancing her role as a leader with a bright, extroverted personality. Off-stage, she's a dog mom to Azzo, her Bichon Frise with its own Instagram fan club. Beyond IVE, she's a pro MC—she previously hosted the weekly music program Inkigayo and is a mainstay in variety shows like Earth Arcade.

Fashion and beauty brands can't get enough of her either—she's the face of Fendi, Lacoste, and CLIO (to name a few). Aside from being a green tea ice cream enthusiast and Gangnam shopping aficionado, Yujin can also school anyone in girls' hip hop and piano, proving she's as talented as she is fun.

Known as the "Grandma" of IVE (a nickname her members lovingly gave her), Gaeul is a mystery novel lover, horror movie fan, and Sunmi stan who's been dancing since middle school. She's the comedian of the group and writes her own rap lyrics, too, as the group's lead rapper. Off-stage, she's all about hot baths and chilling with friends, and she's the kind of member you can count on for bright energy during rehearsals or quiet reading sessions at home.

Japan-born Rei moved to Korea at 14 to chase her dream and quickly made her mark as the group's main rapper and sub-vocalist with her deep-toned rap and mochi-like charm. She hosts Follow Rei on YouTube, where she gives fans the ultimate backstage pass—styling tips, photo-editing hacks, makeup secrets, and behind-the-scenes glimpses of idol life. Rei is a creative powerhouse, excelling at drawing, jewelry-making, and even caring for her adorable Bichon Frise named Porsche.

Dubbed as the "4th Gen It Girl," Wonyoung is the visual member of IVE who always brings a mix of charm and star power wherever she goes. She's a multi-instrumentalist, a math whiz, and can wink with both eyes at lightning speed. She started as the youngest contestant on Produce 48 and became the center of IZ*ONE before re-debuting with IVE. She's an ace in endorsements too: INNISFREE, Miu Miu, Bulgari, and 15(!) more.

With doll-like visuals, undeniable charisma, and a certain aura that commands attention, everything she does feels effortlessly elegant and lovely—so it's no surprise that everyone can't get enough of her.

Liz is IVE's soft-spoken main vocalist with a huge love for her clowder of cats at home. Her hobbies include sports and cuddling with animals. Outside of her work with IVE, she's debuted as a soloist with the OST for Love Your Enemy in 2024. According to Liz, her dimples are her most striking feature, perfectly paired with her cute, signature handwriting. Fans also love jokingly calling her Elizabeth Helga Müller, referencing her German-coded "ELEVEN" outfit.

IVE's confident maknae Lee Hyun-seo, who goes by the stage name Leeseo, is an energetic force both on and off the stage. ICYDK, she was a former SM Kids model and piano prodigy. Nowadays, she's a high schooler balancing homework, music, and MC gigs on Inkigayo.
