The Queen really is everything we aspire to be in life. She starts her day with a cup of tea and biscuits, like every self-respecting Brit should, and even has a secret handbag code that tells her staff when she wants saving from a conversation, which quite frankly, we all need to adopt ASAP.
And just to add to the mountain of respect we have for her majesty, we've recently discovered that not only does Queen Elizabeth II have great taste in cake but she also will never leave the house without it. (The house being Buckingham Palace, obvs).
According to Harper's Bazaar UK, Royal chef Darren McGrady cooked for the Queen for 15 years and told Recipes Plus that the Queen's love of chocolate biscuit cake is so huge that she takes it with her wherever she goes. McGrady says that if the cake has been made and the Queen needs to travel to Windsor Castle, she will ask a senior chef to follow on, bringing the cake on the train with him. *Fancyyyy*
"Now the Chocolate Biscuit Cake is the only cake that goes back again and again and again everyday until it's all gone," McGrady said. "She'll take a small slice every day until eventually there is only one tiny piece, but you have to send that up, she wants to finish the whole of that cake."
Basically, when it comes to cake, the Queen is ALL OF US.
