Being a nurse involves shifting work schedules, dealing with patients who have various needs and personalities, and being there for not only the sick but for their relatives too. Nurses spend a lot of time helping others that they barely have a minute or two to touch up their makeup.

If you're wondering how they keep their looks fresh throughout their shifts, we asked Tina Cruz, an ER Nurse at Metropolitan Medical Center whose work schedule starts at 3 p.m. and ends at 11 p.m., to reveal her beauty secrets!

The simpler your makeup look, the better.

"I usually do my duties wearing a simple makeup look because it distracts me whenever I have something on my face or whenever my face gets too oily or undone during my shift. Besides, I can't do any retouches because I wouldn't have the luxury of time. Peeing can be a burden sometimes, what more for makeup?"

Tinted lip balms > regular lipsticks.

"Whenever I wear lipstick underneath my mask, there's a possibility I could end up looking like a clown because the color smudged—and I wouldn't even notice it because I would be too busy! I prefer using Human Nature's Tinted Lip Balm in Flame Tree because it gives my lips a little bit of color and stays put even when under a mask."

Heavy duty, but lightweight, products are the best!

"I usually use three to four products only: Laura Mercier's Tinted Moisturizer because it's lightweight and it's skincare and makeup in one bottle; The Body Shop's Concealer Stick to help prevent that 'zombie' look at work; Maybelline's Dream Bouncy Blush because sometimes I just have to look like Snow White to please younger patients; and Human Nature's Tinted Lip Balm in Flame Tree.”

Skincare is definitely important.

"I just have two to three steps for my skincare routine, which isn't a lot, but I really make time for it to give my complexion enough hydration, nourishment, and protection to last for eight hours."

A smile and a good heart will make you even more beautiful.

"At the end of the day, looks don't really matter because patients will remember you by how nice you were and how well you treated them. Smiling is the best accessory because it can brighten up even the saddest of hearts!"
