You've been there: You were so obsessed with getting that lippie that looks so good on your BFF, only to be disappointed when you swipe it on your own puckers. The hue just doesn’t pop, and it just looks so meh compared to when she wears it.
Before you get incredibly frustrated and curse the day you ever laid eyes on that lipstick, know that it might have been your mistake too. That's because you probably don't think about your lips' natural undertone (because who has time for that, really!), which could affect how the lipstick looks on you.
Kim Kardashian’s makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic, however, urges that knowing your undertone shouldn’t stop you from wearing the lip colors that you want. Because guess what—you can actually cancel out your lip’s undertones by simply using foundation or concealer on your lips. Another trick you can do is lining and filling-in your lips with a natural-colored lip liner as opposed to one that matches your lipstick. Doing these tricks will provide a neutral base color for your lipstick, making its hue pop even more.
So yes, you can definitely wear whatever lip color you want—just remember to prep your puckers prior to application!
