Try: L’Oreal True Match Super Blendable Concealer, P400, Landmark.
The truth is you don’t need both foundation and concealer agad-agad, especially when you’re still learning to do makeup. Find an easy-to-use concealer that can solve discoloration, hide blemishes, and highlight your features.
2. Lash Curler and Mascara
Try Maybelline Great Lash, P350, SM Makati. (Hoard tubes and tubes of this one; they’ll only be available in the country until September 30!)
Get over your fear of curling your lashes and learn how to do it! Pair it with a mascara that will answer your needs. If you want thicker-looking lashes, go for a volumizing mascara. If you want length, go for a lengthening one. Of course, there are mascaras out in the market that promise to give you both. We say invest in a good lash curler like the Shu Uemura Lash Curler, P1,500, SM Makati. If you take care of it properly, it will last you a lifetime. For mascaras, go for reasonably priced ones, because you will have to throw them out after three to four months.
3. Cream Blush or Cheek Tint
Try: Make Up For Ever HD Blush, SM Megamall; Benefit Posie Tint, P1,800, Trinoma.
Unlike powder blushes that can make you look a little older, cream blushes and cheek tints leave the skin with a dewy flushed look. They’re also very easy to use—just put a few dots on your cheeks and blend away.
4. Face Powder
Try: Revlon Photoready Powder Foundation, P995, SM Megamall
Zap away oil easily with a face powder—just remember to use a blotting sheet or tissue first! Use powder to seal in your concealer, too. Be sure to get a compact case that comes with a mirror, so you won't have to carry an extra mirror around.
Try: MAC Russian Red, P1,000, Robinson’s Magnolia; NARS Audacious Lipstick in Raquel, P1,650, Rustans Shangri-La.
Start with two colors: one pinky nude one for daily use and one red for night events.
6. Brow Pencil
Try: Snoe What’s Up Brow! Tinted Eyebrow Pencil Wax, P699, Snoe Beauty.
If you’re still learning how to fill in your brows, start with a brow pencil first. Get one with a spoolie on the end to blend.
