Skin Care Switches You Need To Make For Summer

Read this to stay breakout-free.

Are you prepping your skin for summer? Well, you should be. To help make sure that your complexion stays free of nasty pimples, take stock of the skincare products that you’re using. Start shelving the ones that are heavy or oil-based and start replacing them with more heat-friendly beauty finds. Our suggestions here:

Makeup Remover
Your cleansing oils are still good for removing waterproof formulas, so limit those to your eyes. For the rest of your face, use a water-based cleansing remover to avoid clogging your pores.

Try: Bifesta Cleansing Lotion, P419, Watsons

Moisturizer
Just because your skin is greasy doesn’t mean it’s hydrated. Opt for gel formula that feels cool on your skin and can help protect you against sun spots, too.

Try: Pond’s Flawless White Dewy Rose Gel, P399, available at grocery stores

Sunscreen
With the sun on full blast, this is a non-negotiable. If you wanna double your SPF, take these daily supplements (but don't scrimp on slathering sunblock).

Try: Heliocare Ultra Oral Caps, P2,800. Heliocare products are available in select dermatological clinics. For inquiries, call 244-6992, 242-3636 local 714 or 0917-800-4471.

Foundation
You have to go for an oil-free formula to help make sure that your skin looks glowing and fresh—not shiny. Bonus: A water-based fonda will also be easier to remove at the end of the day!

Try: Make Up For Ever Face & Body Foundation, P2,700, The SM Store (P.S. You can use it to cover up scars or bruises on your legs, too!)

Body Lotion
Nobody likes the feel of slimy lotion on a hot, sweaty day. Opt for a light, water-based serum that hydrates and protects your skin from skin darkening. This way, you won’t get uneven tan lines on your arms from your daily commute.
