Among the latest casualties in the vigilante-style killings amid the intensified drug war in the country is Ma. Aurora Moynihan, the sister of actress Maritoni Fernandez.
Philippine Daily Inquirer reveals that Moynihan was found dead along Temple Drive corner Giraffe Street in Barangay Ugong Norte, Quezon City. She bore multiple gunshot wounds. There was also a cardboard placard placed on her body, warning drug peddlers who cater to celebrities that "they will be next."
The Inquirer reports: "The Moynihan girls are the daughters of the late Antony Moynihan, a British baron. Their uncle, Colin Moynihan, is former chairman of the British Olympic Association."
Quezon City police chief Guillermo Eleazar disclosed that the victim was suspected of supplying party drugs to showbiz personalities.
"Eleazar said the QCPD is currently monitoring celebrities in Quezon City who are allegedly linked to the illegal drug trade," adds the Philippine Star.
According to witnesses, a Toyota Fortuner pulled over at the crime scene at around 1:40 a.m. on Sunday, September 11. The witnesses said that they then heard gunshots and saw the car speed off toward White Plains Avenue. They didn't take note of the vehicle's license plate.
Police later said that Moynihan was most likely shot dead in the vehicle and then pushed out by the still unidentified suspects. They said they would try to check footage from CCTV cameras in the area for more clues.
