In the interview accompanying her cover of British Vogue's September issue, Emma Watson discussed the "silent retreat" she undertook around the time she split from her most-recent boyfriend. While breaks in her quotations don't directly connect the notions of breaking up and going quiet for what was subsequently reported as a whole week's stay at a quiet facility in the Canadian Rockies, the greater subject was clearly her dealing with life as a singleton again—how "uncomfortable" it was and how she needed to find herself again.
Ironically enough, the next paragraph discussed Emma's reticence and "strict focus" in interviews—she feels journalists have, in the past, often thrown "gotcha questions" at her, and/or just put words in her mouth. Oh and also, she now alleges, that's still happening. During a Twitter Q&A over the weekend, Emma said she has "never spoken about [her] personal relationships" with the media and clarified that the meditation retreat deal was just part of a yoga course she took, and nothing more. She's now certified as a yoga teacher, FYI. "Why it was reported differently I am not sure," she added.
