Anne Curtis Wants You To Join Her 'Heroes For Children Run'

The UNICEF Celebrity Advocate is running for a cause. You should, too.

Anne Curtis is not only famous as an actress, but also for following a super healthy lifestyle. The girl has a crazy work schedule, yet still finds time to run regularly. That’s why it was no surprise that her first major fundraising initiative as UNICEF’s Celebrity Advocate is a fun run—benefitting children’s health and nutrition during their first 1,000 days.

Anne has been spearheading her "Heroes For Children Run," pooling resources and mobilizing her own networks to support this event. All proceeds of the run will support UNICEF’s "1,000 Days of Life" campaign.

The fun run is happening on October 25, Sunday at the SM Mall of Asia grounds. The run will feature a 500-meter dash for kids (for children 12 years old and below) and a 5-K, 10-K, and 21-K for adults.

Anne herself will be running 21-K, and has been training twice a week! Her boyfriend Erwan Heussaff will also be joining the run, along with Anne's celeb besties Belle Daza and Solenn Heussaff.

Anne’s first duty as UNICEF’s Celebrity Advocate was to visit parts of Leyte in March, after it was struck by Typhoon Yolanda. She opened up about her immersion at the hospitals, saying, “I got to meet the mothers who were of different ages. We have a high rate of teen pregnancies in our country, that's why it's so important [to have them learn] about prenatal checkups because they don’t know how to handle a pregnancy at such a young age."

The actress shared, “There was this one mother who was in the recovery room [and] she had lost her baby. When I met her I asked, ‘San po ang baby niyo?’ and she said ‘Wala, wala. Wala na ‘yung baby [ko].’ And I didn’t want to cry because you really want to cheer them up."

Anne has only just begun her journey with UNICEF. After her Heroes For Children Run, she is set to take on a new role as an author. The actress has been working closely with Palanca awardee Augie Rivera for a children's book to be released in February 2016. The book will be available in English and Filipino with all proceeds going to UNICEF.
