Ariana Grande Never Thought She Slayed At Singing

Girl, are you kidding?!

Ariana Grande never thought she would be a singer until mother Joan Grande uncovered her talent.

The 22-year-old pop star's talent was first discovered when she started hitting the high notes in her mother's car when she was a little girl.

The modest star admitted she never thought she "slayed" at singing and feels her career is still in its early stages.

"I think it was one time I was singing in sync in the car with my mom. I was really young... it was something where Jay Z had a high riff at the end and my mom was like, 'hold on' and she rewound it and was like 'hold on can you do that again?,'" she revealed on BBC Radio 1's Breakfast Show.

"And I was like 'yeah sure' and my mom was like well you have a really good voice," the singer revealed.

The “Bang Bang” hitmaker recalled how growing up in a musical family helped to nurture her talent at an early age, but also prevented her from thinking she was anything special.

"When I was little, I don't think I ever had that thought 'I slay at singing' but I think my mom, she is like a CEO and does her own thing, but she encouraged us to sing and she loves music," she shared.

"My dad will always sing karaoke and my brother (Frankie) was into musical theatre and I've always been surrounded by music, so I didn't think it was weird to be a singer or sing," she added.

She's already topped the U.S. charts with two number one albums in a row, but Ariana still feels like her career has a long way to go. Having released the single Dangerous Woman from her new album in March, the singer admits she sometimes feels the pressure to do well.

"There's a little bit of pressure but I feel like the single is a song that I love so much and am so proud of it, so that's the most rewarding thing. I'm glad my fans are loving it but that's just the best feeling."

Ariana's third studio album Dangerous Woman, which features the star wearing a latex bunny suit on the cover, will be released on May 20.
