On September 15, Atom Araullo announced that he was leaving ABS-CBN after being with the network for over a decade. He stated that he was going to "explore emerging opportunities and challenges beyond the organization." ABS-CBN's statement indicated that it was an amicable parting.
But rumors soon claimed that Atom was actually moving to ABS-CBN's rival network, GMA-7. And on September 21, that was confirmed on 24 Oras. In an interview, Atom shared that he looks forward to working on documentaries in the network and learning from veteran journalists he looks up to. He said, "Gusto ko pang matuto and palagay ko this is one of the best places to learn as a journalist."
Atom will become the fifth host of the documentary and public affairs show i-Witness, where he will join Kara David, Howie Severino, Jay Taruc, and Sandra Aguinaldo.
The 34-year-old broadcast journalist is actually coming full circle. It may be recalled that his career in TV started with the kiddie show 5 and Up, which was aired on ABC-5 and GMA-7.
That said, Atom has literally grown up in the public eye. Here's a quick look at his body of work:
