Have you ever been in the friend zone—for 10 years? That's what happened to Palm ("Nine" Naphat Siangsomboon), who has been stuck ~in the dreaded zone~ with his best friend, Gink ("Baifern" Pimchanok Luevisadpaibul) since high school. He did try to confess to her, but that amounted to...nothing. Now both working adults, whenever Gink is brokenhearted, Palm will fly to wherever she is—whether she's in Myanmar, Malaysia, or Hong Kong—just to comfort her. Oof.
The Thai movie, which was first released on Valentine's Day 2019, is now available for streaming on Netflix and is currently in the streaming site's Top 10 most-watched shows and movies in the Philippines. Not only does it star one of our fave Thai actresses, but Friend Zone also shows off Thailand's amazing beaches!
In an interview with Bangkok Post, the movie's director Chayanop Boonprakob shared that Baifern is a "very versatile" actress. He also commended Naphat, saying: "He is diligent and is a nice guy all around. He's always taking notes. Everybody loves him, really. He's perfectly handsome from all those ads we've seen him appearing in. And in this film, we also get to see his other side that sheds this perfect outer shell to simply be a human who can be sad, feel pain, and tell bad jokes. It's quite refreshing to see him this way, plus he also looks perfect in front of the camera."
Fun fact: Claudia Barretto makes a cameo in the movie as a Filipina singer!
