A 19th-century heritage site, a neo-Victorian wardrobe, and the lovely Anne Curtis--nothing else can make our January 2011 cover shoot more timelessly beautiful and modernly elegant than it is.
"The concept of the shoot was fashionably fierce Victorian glamour. We thought it would be a great way to show off Anne's mestiza features," said Camyl Besinga, Cosmopolitan's deputy managing editor.
Shot on location at the Plaza San Luis Complex and White Knight Hotel in the historical walled city of Intramuros, this month's cover story shows the sultrier, more dramatic side of our naturally bubbly and outgoing cover girl. And Anne was, indeed, able to effortlessly pull off the dramatic looks and poses the team came up with for her.
"It's more of, like, just natural photographs. And [with] Anne [as the subject], you don't need to edit a lot. And she knows what she's doing, so there's not a lot of tricks involved," photographer Mark Nicdao said, when we asked him how the shoot went for him.
A fitting choice for the cover of the year-opener issue, certified Cosmo girl Anne Curtis exudes confidence, class, and sensuality, yet remains approachable and friendly to people around her. She even cracked jokes and laughed with the team throughout the shoot.
Also, as a year-opening special from Cosmo.ph, we asked Anne to write down the resolutions she wished she made last year. Check out her answers below, in her own handwriting!
