Ooh, Belle Mariano Says She's Open(!) To Starring In A GL Series

When it comes to acting and honing her craft, nothing will make Belle Mariano hesitate. The young actress and singer made it clear that she is unafraid to explore unconventional roles, even expressing her openness to working in an LGBTQIA+ project, particularly a GL or Girls' Love story centered on a woman-to-woman relationship.

During the Star Magic Spotlight press conference, Belle explained that her willingness stems from her desire to constantly challenge herself and collaborate with respected names in the industry.

"Kung maganda po iyong [GL] story, why not po? Feeling ko, ako po ang focus ko talaga, if it sends out a good message sa mga manonood," the actress said.

"Kung maganda po iyong mensahe, kung mga makakapag-inspire. And those are the factors that I consider. And maganda po iyong story. Kung maganda iyong story, why not?" she added.

According to Belle, she has always embraced the mindset of stepping out of her comfort zone and welcoming challenges as an actress. 

"Ever since I had that mindset na, you know, ma-challenge talaga ako. Kung maganda po ang story ready po ako and feeling ko kasi naka-focus ako sa mga manonood basta po maganda ang mga story," the actress expressed.

Belle is widely recognized for her hit series Can't Buy Me Love and He's Into Her alongside on-screen partner Donny Pangilinan, but that hasn't stopped her from carving out her own space in the industry. During the same press conference, the actress shared that she remains open to exploring roles far from her usual image, including taking on "kontrabida" roles.

"As for now, that's my dream role, kasi feeling ko iba yung challenge doon, di ba? Parang you're playing dalawang roles," Belle said.

"Siyempre gusto kong aralin. And if ever ibigay man, I'm up for it," she added. 

She also shared her desire to work with industry icons like Judy Ann Santos and John Lloyd Cruz, saying that every collaboration is a chance for her to learn and grow as an actress.
