Did you know that Kim Bum, one of the stars of Boys Over Flowers, was diagnosed with degenerative arthritis in his 20s?

In April 2018, right before he began his military duties, his agency released a statement about the actor's condition. King Kong Entertainment revealed, "Because of a hereditary illness, Kim Bum has been receiving treatment ever since his early 20s. He has tried to overcome the illness through medication and exercising."

Because of his condition, he was assigned to do public social work. This isn't the first time Kim Bum's health has gotten the media's attention. In 2012, during a press conference, Kim Bum disclosed that he worked out rigorously and lost 11 kg for a role.

He was also involved in a car accident in 2009 and sustained minor injuries. They believe the accident coupled with intense exercising contributed to his condition.
