At a quick ceremony held just this week, the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) unveiled a postage stamp to commemorate the 2018 Miss Universe win of Catriona Gray.
The stamps come in a few variants. The highlighted one, however, immortalizes the queen’s winning moment in postal perfection—Mark Tumang lava gown, Mikimoto crown, and all that jazz. The other options, on the other hand, are close up shots that are equally as beautiful.
In-house Philatelic Counter graphic artist Mr. Rodine Teodoro designed the beautiful stamp with credits to the Miss Universe organization for the victory-moment photo.
It seems like Miss Universe stamps have a thriving market. The PHLPost shares that in 2017, they issued special stamps featuring the past Filipina Miss Universe title holders: Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz, Miss Universe 1973 Margie Moran, and Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach. This year, Catriona got a set all to herself. We do love our beauty queens, don’t we?
Upon further investigation, we found out that the commemorative Catriona stamps cost
P55 with the queen in an embellished crown and lava gown. The stamps are available at the Manila Central Post Office with a few sets trickling down to the regional outposts.
The PHLPost says that the Catriona stamps have been “selling like hotcakes” since the first day of issue. Waaah! We sooo want to get our hands on a set of Catrionas!
