Cebu DJ Murdered In Her Home By Robber

The man who killed Marie Alexie "Maxi" Bolongaita is now under police custody.

Marie Alexie "Maxi" Bolongaita, a 29-year-old DJ at a Cebu FM radio station and the daughter of radio personality Alex Bolongaita, was found dead on Thursday, September 21, inside the room of her house in Sitio Nivel Hills, Barangay Busay, Cebu City. She had gunshot wounds on her chest.

Maxi was robbed before she was killed by her assailant, who was later identified as Reynante Mambiar, a driver of a habal-habal (a modified motorcycle designed to allow more than two passengers).

Initial reports said it looked like Maxi had tried to fight off her attacker.

"Mambiar, 36, who sustained wounds to his face and shoulder, was later arrested by operatives of Cebu City Police Office during a hot pursuit operation, according to Senior Superintendent Jonathan Cabal, intelligence chief of the Cebu-based Police Regional Office (PRO-7)…. Recovered from Mambiar were some personal belongings of Bolongaita," reports Michael O. Ligalig on Rappler.

In a Cebu Daily News report, Maxi's father, Alex, was quoted as saying, "He (the suspect) is an animal. Any normal person cannot do that. I want him to live. I want him to suffer. I don't want him dead. I want him to live and feel the pain. That's what I want."
