Harry Styles’ new solo material will "shock" the world, promises rocker Johnny McDaid.
McDaid, a friend of the 22-year-old One Direction star, says they have been working together on an informal basis.
Harry, who like McDaid, lives in Los Angeles has yet to confirm any plans to launch a solo career, but the Snow Patrol guitarist confirmed he has been writing songs with the young heartthrob for years.
McDaid told the Press Association: "He's really authentic and he has an incredible voice, so we've been writing a lot of songs. We've been writing songs for years together.
“I'm really excited by the way he's sounding at the minute, he's such a talent. I think the world is going to be really shocked at what he comes up with.”
However, McDaid, who is engaged to former Friends star Courteney Cox, added the pair have yet to head to the studio, preferring instead to rock out in his living room.
"We do the guerrilla thing. I've never been in a studio with Harry, we tend to just hang out at his house or mine, or we'll meet somewhere and set up in a living room,” he grinned.
"It's just the way he likes to do it and the way I like to do it, so it means that we can order takeout and kick up ideas."
So far, former band member Zayn Malik is the only member of One Direction to strike out on his own. Since leaving the popular group, Zayn's first album Mind of Mine debuted at No.1 in the U.S.—making him the first British artist to top the chart with a debut solo album since George Michael's Faith back in 1988.
