Cosmo Online Hunk Miguel Villafuerte: Passionate Stud

Silent yet strong and sexy, our last summer hunk for 2011 made the season all the more memorable. Here, he reveals more of himself than ever before.

May has been all about being fun, fearless, and inspiring for Cosmo, given that it's our anniversary month. These qualities we found in the 10 women we named our Fun, Fearless Female Awardees--and in our May Online Hunk, Miguel Villafuerte. The 22-year-old has done great things in his young life--what with his international feats in wakeboarding and his smooth-sailing clothing business--and is touted to do even bigger things in the future: he's being groomed to become governor of their province, CamSur, following the footsteps of his father, Gov. LRay Villafuerte.

As you already know, he travels to and from Los Angeles to finish his Political Science degree. But for Migs, there’s nothing like CamSur, which is his home--the place where he grew up and to which he gave back by making it a hot tourist destination, particularly for wakeboarding. Migs may have already accomplished a lot, but he’s really just your average guy--he also has a soft heart and has eyes for the simple girl. Last week, we finally gave you inside info on the real deal between him and pop princess Sarah Geronimo. This week, he reveals more to Cosmo, including what makes him different and his plans for the future. Is showbiz part of it? Find out.

What do you think makes you sexy?

I think what makes me sexy is the way I carry myself. A lot of people tell me I’m intimidating, but I’m not; I’m actually a teddy bear deep inside. I think it’s just my confidence (laughs).

What do you think girls would love about you?

I’m very sweet and caring, like I always text them, “Hey! How are you na? You okay? What are you doing? You don’t text me anymore ha!” (Laughs.) 'Tas ako pala 'yung clingy e. (Laughs.) Hindi, that’s just lambing.

How can a girl know you’re flirting with her or you're just being friendly?

Well, I have this motto: “The best type of flirting is when the girl doesn’t notice it. But she’s actually falling for it.” (Laughs.)

What makes you different from other guys?

Well, I think it’s my ambitions in life. I don’t wanna be mediocre, I wanna be successful and great.

Is showbiz in your plans?

Uh, wala pa namang offer e (laughs). Pero I don’t know, I also like trying things at least to once, everything in my life, so why not if the opportunity comes?

How is it like to be part of a political family?

All my life, I’ve been around politics; like my lolo, he’s been governor for like so long, and to my dad, it’s actually fun. At first I was like, “I don’t wanna have a bodyguard! Ano ba 'to, I can’t have my privacy.” But in the long run, it’s actually good ‘cause we were able to help people, make a difference on people’s lives. And that feeling is super priceless. What changed my life is when my dad went campaigning, just giving stuff like hats, candies, and stuff, and making people smile--It's a priceless feeling.

Do you really just want to follow your dad’s footsteps?

Like, politics? Well, that’s a long time from now, a lot of things can happen. But if I was given the chance, I think I can do it.

How do you think you can make a difference?

In politics, first of all, my dad really does a good job. It’s gonna be hard topping this, but I’m gonna try my best to match it and actually top it.

What would you want Cosmo girls to remember most about you?

I’d like them to remember that I’m very approachable. A lot of people say I’m intimidating. Like, the first time they see me, [they'd say] “Ah, ang yabang ha! Yabang nito ha!” But like I said, I’m really not. I’m welcoming and very friendly.

How do you feel about posing for Cosmo as Summer Online Hunk?

I feel very lucky that they chose me for the summer thingy. I dunno why, they must like me (laughs).

How did you prepare for this Cosmo shoot?

I drank lots of water and called my friends [to ask]: “Hey guys, do you have advice?” (Laughs).

You’ve been wakeboarding for a while; what do you want people who haven't tried it to know about the sport?

Wakeboarding is great. It changed my life and it can change yours, too. And it’s really easy, a lot of people are afraid to fall, but everyone falls. And it’s all part of it; you should try it.

What do you want women to know more about men?

Men don’t like playing games. What we say is what we mean. Unlike other people--just kidding (laughs).

What don’t you understand about women?

I don’t understand why they always change their minds. For example, when getting ready to go out, (girl says) “Do you like this?” (guy says) “Yeah, it looks good!” (girl) “Oh I think I’ll change na lang.” (Laughs).
