Cosmo Online Hunk Mike Advincula: New MYX VJ For 2011

One of our four July college hunks was one of three MYX VJs hailed at the annual VJ search's finals last week. Two fab girls complete the roster.

You voted, and MYX made it count. Local music channel MYX crowned a new batch of aspiring VJs and awarded them a six-month contract at the finale of their 5th annual MYX VJ Search. Fans, friends, and relatives of the finalists braved the strong rains last July 27 just to be at SM The Block in SM City North Edsa for the finals night.

One of the three winners--and the lone guy--is absolutely familiar to you: He's one of our four July Cosmo Online Hunks, DLSU college athlete Mike Advincula. Aside from being their university's swim team captain, the 6’1’’ hottie can now add the title "VJ" to his cap. Never in Mike’s life did he dream of entering this path (a.k.a. show business), but with his game-on attitude and confidence, Mike learned to use his outgoing personality and natural hosting skills to their full potential.

“I started out as a quiet guy, then unti-unti kong inilabas ang tunay na kulay ko and it really worked. So, I’m really excited to live a new life, because ever since, I’ve been living life as a student athlete,” Mike said.

When he joined this year’s MYX VJ Search, the hunky swimmer actually sought the advice of his teammate, former Cosmo Man On Fire and Centerfold Enchong Dee. “When I entered the competition, I asked Enchong right away: 'What shall I do?' Then he advised me to just be myself,” VJ Mike shared. It seems Enchong’s advice worked, and helped bring Mike to victory.

The other two fab chicks who were crowned MYX VJs along with Mike were Fil-Canadian R 'n' B sweetheart K-La Rivera, who first started her journey to stardom via ABS-CBN’s hit singing competition Star Power, and quirky Fine Arts major Joyce Pring, who didn’t expect that her witty and cheerful character would help her bag the title--but, she did believe in herself.

The night was also highlighted by performances from the MYX VJ finalists, Chavacano band Maldita, Callalily lead vocalist Kean Cipriano, and electronica music artist Somedaydream.

We’re just as excited as you to see these three new MYX music video ambassadors on television. Check out photos taken during the finals night when you launch the gallery.
