The much-awaited ABS-CBN Ball will be held this Saturday, September 29, at the Makati Shangri-La. It's our chance to see our favorite celebs—and celeb couples—on the red carpet again! And they certainly don't disappoint, because their looks are always gush-worthy. I mean, check out this doll inspired by Kathryn Bernardo's glittery number from last year:
However, some of us have questions. How come it isn't called the Star Magic Ball anymore? What's the big deal? Is there really a difference?
1. First, the name change.
For 11 years now, the event has been dubbed the "Star Magic Ball." The first Star Magic Ball was held on August 2007 and the last one took place on September 30, 2017, with a black and white theme. Traditionally, the Kapamilya event is a gathering of Star Magic artists, although the network occasionally invites celebs from other managements. This year, the entertainment and fashion event was renamed to accommodate ALL the talents of ABS-CBN. Also, it'll be hosted by Tim Yap, Rajo Laurel, and Joey Mead King.
2. The guest list has *expanded*!
Since the ball isn't ~exclusive~ to Star Magic artists alone, even celebrities who aren't managed by ABS-CBN will be there and we'll get to see more stars! We already saw Viva artists James Reid and Nadine Lustre prepping for Saturday's event. Non-Star Magic talents who are working in the network such as Vice Ganda, Anne Curtis, and Karla Estrada have also been confirmed. Check out the list of attendees here.
3. This year's cause will still benefit Bantay Bata 163.
Of course, it's not just about the glitz and glamour. Last year's cause helped Bantay Bata scholars while this year's ball will launch a campaign that aims to help reopen the Bantay Bata 163 Children's Village in Norzagaray, Bulacan this December. The village will serve as a home to abused, exploited, and neglected children.
