At around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 1, a female dentist in San Pablo City, Laguna was shot dead when she tried to fend off robbers.

Police said that the dentist, Genevieve Ojeda, 34, along with her children and her helper had just arrived at their home in Riverina Subdivision in Barangay San Rafael when they were overpowered by robbers.

"Ojeda and her children had just stepped out of their car and their helper was unloading their things when four armed men approached them. The robbers ordered them to enter the house but Ojeda tried to block the group. This drove the suspects to shoot her several times, hitting her in the chest," reports Maricar Cinco in the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

The robbers took Ojeda's handbag, which contained her wallet and mobile phones, before fleeing.

Ojeda was rushed to the San Pablo City Medical Center. Unfortunately, she died while undergoing treatment.

Journal Online reveals that San Pablo City Mayor Loreto Amante is offering a P200,000 reward to whomever gives information that would lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.
