Gabbi Garcia Shuts Down Rumors That She Intentionally Skipped Filming 'Encantadia'

The Encantadia series is getting another reboot, featuring a mix of fresh faces and returning cast members—most notably, the Sang’gres. Among them is Gabbi Garcia, who recently found herself the target of random online allegations about her work ethic.
The Kapuso star didn't hesitate to clear the air, once and for all, she says. Just recently, Encantadia will have another turn in its story with a new teleserye called Sang'gre. For its grand media conference, the new and former cast members gathered, bringing their characters to life ahead of the release of the show. After all, it's nostalgic enough to see the Encantadia cast come together once again.
Gabbi was in attendance and made a head-turning entrance as her Encantadia role, Alena. But it seemed that Gabbi had to leave the mediacon early, ahead of her peers. She was open enough to the fans that she had to shoot something for Pinoy Big Brother, where she's currently a regular host.
She wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "Sorry na kailangan ko mag shoot ng pbb updates.. hihi avisala!!" (In case you're curious, Avisala is a term used to say "hi" or "goodbye" inside the Encantadia universe.)
That's when some people started responding to her post, claiming she's "missing in action," or MIA, again for Encantadia. "Lagi kang MIA alena noon ka pa ha," an online user commented on her X (formerly Twitter) post. It wasn't just one post talking about her being MIA. So, she had to do what she had to do.
Gabbi responded to the allegations and calmly set the record straight. She explained that her absence from some parts of the Encantadia filming was never intentional. According to her, the storyline at the time simply didn't require much screen time for her character, Alena.
"Ok, let me answer this once & for all. I wasn't MIA just bc I was absent! As we all know, the story took a diff [different] direction + I was a minor [role]. So may adjustments talaga," she wrote on X.
She even opened up how she felt FOMO when she had no schedule for Encantadia that time. "Tbh 17y/o me was begging to be on set," she said. "I had major fomo pag wala akong taping. So, no di lang dahil 'absent' ako haha."

The exchange of messages between Gabbi and the Internet was short but sweet. Gabbi wasn't the least bit annoyed—she just genuinely wanted to clarify her case. She even posted a throwback photo of herself from nine years ago on set as Alena.
But since some people didn't want the issue to die just yet, Gabbi once again replied and expressed her thoughts about the matter.
It was a reply to someone who was arguing how there was a surge of endorsement shoots for Gabbi, which might have contributed to—again—her alleged missing in action era for Encantadia.
Gabbi, who knows her story better than anyone else, replied, "Dear, I literally had 1 major endorsement shoot that time. Yung Pantene, shot in Australia. I was just out for 6 days."
Admittedly, Gabbi stated that she was just trying to make it in the industry when Encantadia began. Then, she reiterated that it was really because of the storyline that she wasn't seen much in the series, even though she was part of the lead characters.
"Jusko nagsisimula palang ako nun kaya 1 palang major endorsement ko. Nagkaron ako ng shoots AFTER enca [Encantadia] bc of its success :) That was it. The storyline CHANGED :)" Gabbi concluded.
Gabbi addressed the issue directly and with clarity, putting rumors to rest and focusing on the facts. With Sang'gre on the horizon, she's moving forward—no drama, just work.
