GMA Network’s epic fantasy series, Encantadia, will be back on primetime TV very, very soon.
According to PEP.ph, Encantadia 2016 is a ‘requel’ (a retelling + sequel) by director Mark Reyes, who pioneered the 2005 version.
More than a decade after the original series hit the small screen, the Kapuso network finally revealed the four powerful female leads or Sang’gres to bring us back to the world of Encantadia.
Glaiza de Castro, Kylie Padilla, Gabbi Garcia, and Sanya Lopez were all chosen to take on the roles of the Sang’gres, the keepers of the four elemental gems representing fire, wind, water, and earth.
Now, with what seems to be their biggest break to date, these four new leading ladies are set to take over showbiz in an epic way.
Get to know the four powerful beauties and why they’re the most fantastic creatures to grace our TV sets in a rather long time.
Glaiza de Castro as Pirena
Glaiza has been a mainstay in the Kapuso channel for a decade now. With numerous TV shows and films under her belt, Glaiza’s known to have a fiery edge which adds to her unique charm. She plays Pirena, the eldest of the four sisters and the keeper of the fire gem, which was originally played by Sunshine Dizon.
Kylie Padilla as Amihan
A cloud of mystery surrounds Kylie, even though she comes from one of the biggest showbiz clans, with her father being Robin Padilla. Succeeding Iza Calzado as Amihan, the keeper of the wind gem and archrival to her older sister Pirena, Kylie exudes an air of elegance regardless of what character she plays.
Gabbi Garcia as Alena
Fresh-faced Gabbi is a teen star and recording artist in the Kapuso network. She succeeds Karylle as Alena, the third sister and keeper of the water gem with a captivating voice.
Sanya Lopez as Danaya
Being a relative newcomer, Sanya takes on the role as the soft and loving Danaya, the youngest sister and keeper of the earth gem. Her role was originally played by Diana Zubiri.
Now, before the Encantadia requel hits our screens, here's a small throwback of the Sang'gres then and now:
