Gretchen Ho couldn't help but clarify some things over on social media. Netizens quickly assumed that some of her posts were a reaction to Robi Domingo's wedding with non-showbiz GF Maiqui Pineda.
Gretchen, who is now an anchor, appeared to be surprised by what was happening online on January 7, 2024. In a tweet, she even apologized before explaining a couple of things. "Hi, sorry, couldn’t help but clear this up. My post on my IG stories was about some career realizations. I was off-grid for most of the day (camping) so I didn’t really know," she wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
This comes after one of her now-deleted Instagram stories was allegedly taken out of context. The athlete-turned-newscaster had shared a supposedly meaningful quote with the lines, "Things don't come to us once we're ready, they tend to arrive early. Right when we are not sure of our capacity to fulfill them."
Some netizens who were calling for her attention on X (formerly Twitter) seemed to have translated her IG story as her reaction to Robi's wedding and their past relationship. The two previously dated for almost five years.
One netizen tagged her and said, "Tara shot" with a quoted tweet of Robi and Maiqui's wedding video. The netizen also posted a screenshot of Gretchen's IG story and commented, "felt sad for her."
That was when Gretchen had to clear things up. She even mentioned in her response that she feels nothing but happiness for the newlyweds. "Re: wedding, I am very and completely happy for Robi and Maiqui! We are good friends!" Gretchen expressed.
Gretchen and Robi first met at a high school soiree but it was only during their college years that they became friends. They both studied at Ateneo De Manila University. Gretchen was a former volleyball player for her Ateneo. Later on, they grew closer not just because of the almost same circle of friends, but also because of their careers. At the time, Robi was starting his showbiz career as a VJ/TV host.
In March 2017, the two gracefully announced their breakup through a joint statement released inTonight With Boy Abunda. "There is too much happening for the both of us right now. We have to focus on our careers. There is no appropriate time yet for a relationship to grow. But we're not closing our doors on each other in the future," their statement read.
