X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters later this month and everyone’s favorite badass mutant heroine is back. Superhero movies aren’t just reserved for the boys! As the shape-shifting Mystique, Jennifer Lawrence once again shows us what it’s like to be a complex, butt-kicking femme fatale. Here are more reasons why you should be excited for J-Law in the latest X-Men outing.

She looks ultra-fab rocking that big hair ’80s ’do!

Since the movie is set in the 1980s, expect a lot of leggings, shoulder pads, and wild manes like the one J-Law is sporting. Even with the hair of metal band groupie, the blonde bombshell still looks hot AF! Expect a resurgence of this trend post-screening.


There’s bound to be a potent mix of action and drama.

No one plays the complicated heroine quite like J-Law. We’ve seen it in the Hunger Games series of films and in her past X-Men flicks. The talented thespian is brings her A-game when it comes to delivering both the punches and the tears.

J-Law in mutant form is just a trip to watch!

It’s exciting to see the red carpet regular out of her usual designer gowns and in full makeup and costume—slicked back red tresses and blue reptilian skin and all.

Mystique’s got some new sidekicks to help her bring down the ultimate baddie.


If you’ve seen earlier X-Men movies, Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Nightcrawler have all appeared at one time or another. But in X-Men: Apocalypse, audiences are treated to younger versions of these characters—Cyclops is played by Ty Sheridan, while Jean Grey is given new life through Game of Thrones’ Sophie Turner.

She’s up against one heck of a villain this time around.

How do you defeat a monster with god-like powers? This is the dilemma that Mystique and the rest of the X-Men crew face against the almighty Apocalypse. It will be interesting to see how Mystique maneuvers the team to victory. Whether they succeed or fail, one thing’s for sure, witnessing the high-octane madness is going to be a LOT of fun!
